What You’ll Do:

This individual is accountable for the teaching and supervision of students in the Culinary Arts – Chapter 74 Massachusetts state frameworks and curriculum disciplines under the direction of the CTE Director.

Role Responsibilities

• Responsible for the development and implementation of departmental curriculum objectives and competencies.
• Responsible for the integration of the department’s curriculum where appropriate.
• Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Massachusetts teachers’ licensure in Culinary Arts – Chapter 74
• Current Sanitation Management and Allergen Awareness Certifications.
• Five years of recent (within the last seven years), full-time employment experience directly related to culinary arts.
• Evidence of mastery of a wide variety of teacher competencies and the understanding of instructional techniques.
• Demonstrated skill and working knowledge of various cooking methods including but not limited to deep-frying, sauté, baking, roasting, steaming, poaching and braising.
• Demonstrated skill and working knowledge of a la carte service, entrée preparation and plating, salads, soups, sandwiches, sauces.
• Demonstrated skill and working knowledge of meat, poultry, and seafood fabrication and preparation as well as vegetable preparation and vegetarian cooking.
• Working knowledge of restaurant, banquet/catering, and small café food production.
• Evidence of supervisory experience for foodservice operations.
• Current authorization to work in the US
• Able and willing to work in a remote learning environment

Preferred qualifications

• Advanced educational preparation.
• Evidence of educational leadership.
• Curriculum development experience and knowledge of technical competencies with curriculum frameworks.
• Competent in computer applications such as Microsoft Operating Systems, Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Point-of-Sale operations.
• Ability to speak Spanish
• Demonstrated experience supporting students with disabilities
• Demonstrated experience supporting English language Learners
• Demonstrated experience teaching high school students
