Cryogenics Maintenance Technician

Our cryogenics team is the front line and added support for our customers day in and day out. As a Cryogenics Specialist, no two days will be the same! Whether you are installing bulk tanks, running piping, or doing routine service work on existing cryogenic systems, our cryogenics team is a team of dedicated, well-trained, problem-solving technicans that deliver value add solutions for our customers.

• Founded in 1965 with the merger of McGowan Welding Supply in Little Falls, MN (est. 1947) and Central Welding Supply, a small supplier of equipment and gases in St. Cloud, MN.

Overview:

Under the direction of, and reporting to the Operations Manager, the Cryogenics Specialist is responsible for the installation, technical support, and maintenance of all bulk cryogenic systems. This position will work both in our St. Cloud facility as well as on site at customer locations to perform work. The Cryogenics Specialist works to build and uphold strong customer loyalty and satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Installation of gas delivery systems.

• Conduct site evaluations to confirm pad location/size.
• Develop and communicate detailed installation plan for Central McGowan and customers.
• Collaborate with sales team to properly quote installation and order/organize required materials/equipment.
• Design of piping layout and complete installation (including soldering).
• Coordinate crane operation with 3rd party (if needed for removal of old/placement of new).

Install and provide preventive maintenance and testing of gas mixers.

• Cryogenic vessel and microbulk tank inspections and service.
• Troubleshoot problems as they occur, communicating with customers on-site to optimize efficiency and safety.
• Analytical testing of Thermco Gas Mixers.
• Annual calibration of Thermco Analyzer.
• Routine system checks for leaks and performance issues, making repairs as needed.
• Keep records of testing results, providing a copy to customers to confirm performance.
• Maintain all cryogenic systems at customer locations as well as at Central McGowan’s facilities.

Qualifications:

• High School degree or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of industry experience, preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Plumbing and pipefitting experience, strongly desired.
