Field Technical Experts provide representation and oversight from a field perspective for large and/or commercially sensitive jobs. This position is responsible for support of field technical escalations.
The successful candidate will interact with customers as well as other internal support functions such as technical support, platform and sustaining engineering, and product managers to provide resolution to various field needs.
They are further responsible for performing formal training to customers on product features, operation and specific methods of implementation. They will also assist with Schneider Electric internal trainings involving Field Service Representatives (FSRs) including collaboration with field technical training leaders on development and delivery of advanced content.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to participate in many different activities, including:
- Plan – The successful deployment of new products and services in the IT Critical Power field
- Install – Participate in the deployment of new product offerings to ensure successful initial installation. You will also be tasked with providing valuable feedback to training leaders for continuous improvement of internal product service training courses
- Operate – Support field operations personnel with technical root cause analysis and failure verification expertise using various communication methods
- Maintain – Drive continuous improvement into the existing offer and provide input to the development team for new service offerings. You will also review and approve field generated work procedures for technical accuracy and compliance with SE safety and work practices
- Optimize – You will be a resource for service operations management’s knowledge verification process during product service qualification serving in a capacity of qualifying products or vetting of possible new hires in the IT Critical Power space.
- Future – You will help pave the path to implement remote field support methods, including remote AR.
- Associates degree (or higher) in Electronics, Electrical theory or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience. Military training is an acceptable equivalent to a formal degree.
- 7+ years of field repair or customer service experience with UPS, Electrical, Electromechanical or Electronics related equipment, or equivalent military equipment experience required
- 7+ years Schneider Electric MGE, APC product/solution experience.
- Experience as a Field Service Engineer preferred
- Advanced working knowledge of critical power systems installations preferred
- Fundamental understanding (experience preferred) of critical power equipment, including having high knowledge of Uninterruptable Power Supplies, fundamentals in all various topologies, switchgear, batteries, Power Distribution Units, monitoring equipment, generators, etc.
- Ability to read and understand electrical wiring, schematics.
- Advanced working knowledge and experience in the operation of power quality meters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical test equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong technical writing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with internal and external customers on a variety of levels, often in stressful situations
- A safety-first mindset is a must
- Travel of up to 50% may be required, and a valid state vehicle operator’s license is required
