Job Description:
Reporting to the Consumer Lending Portfolio Risk Manager, this position is responsible for conducting comprehensive and empirically supported risk assessment of credit policies and portfolio segments in an effort to identify and quantify risk exposure. Provide advanced quantitative support regarding loss forecasting for the Consumer Lending loan portfolios. Support risk analysis of business initiatives to optimize opportunities within established risk tolerances. Participate in an ongoing effort to develop, and evolve a comprehensive assessment of credit risk by channel product and key business segments.
Major Responsibilities:
25% In collaboration with other key business partners, represent the business unit being responsible for the development and evaluation of statistical forecasting processes used to predict losses, delinquency and NPA's by product and portfolio segment. Evaluate various forecasting tools and techniques to evolve effectiveness of loss forecasting process.
25% Participate in recurring and ad-hoc risk analysis. Utilizing SAS and other data analysis tools, identify, collect and analyze relevant data for comprehensive evaluation of portfolio risk. Develop recommendations for remediation in partnership with other business leaders. Present findings and recommendations to senior business leaders. Facilitate meetings and foster collaboration of others to manage implementation of business strategies.
20% Conduct assessments of proposed business initiatives, focusing on credit risk assessment. Identify, collect and analyze necessary data for effective risk evaluation and profile of risk characteristics. Collaborate with finance and other business partners in business case development and initiative assessment. Provide post implementation reporting and analysis of actual performance relative to original projections.
20% Provide support for ongoing risk management reporting and assessment of key risk indices. Assess vintage performance of policy exceptions, business channels, products, customer relationship profiles, account management strategies and geographic segments. Support development of new risk mitigation strategies in unstructured environment. Collaborate with other cross functional team members to develop recommendations.
10% Provide analytical support to evaluation of credit scoring, behavior models and automated valuation models used within the Consumer Lending division. Participate in evaluation of vendor models and analytic tools as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Advanced data management skills, utilizing SAS programming language is required.
- Excellent problem solving skills, with ability formulate strategy recommendations in unstructured environment.
- Ability to interact with senior managers within the organization, communicating observations and recommendations.
- Effective project management skills with ability to manage time across concurrent projects.
- Ability to effectively collaborate and partner with other business units to solve business issues.
Education, Licensure, Experience:
- 5+ years experience in residential mortgage, home equity or other consumer finance related industry is required.
- Master's degree in mathematics, applied statistics, economics or finance is required.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical concepts (such as: logistic regression, CART/CHAID, etc…) is required.
- Previous model development, loss forecasting experience within a consumer lending environment is strongly preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with all levels of bank personnel, including senior management.
- Advanced PC skills in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint is desired.
