About the Position: Kimbrough is the headquarters of the U.S. Army Medical Department Activity, Fort George G. Meade, includes a number of U.S. Army health clinics, occupational health clinics, telemedicine, behavioral health, allergen extract lab, drug testing labs, and environmental health clinics at several installations in MD, PA, VA, & DC. Kimbrough provides primary care, selected specialty care & same day surgery for TRICARE Prime patients.
Responsibilities
- Operate a personal computer to compose, type and prepare various forms, technical and general correspondence, memo, and reports.
- Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of the credentialing program for physicians and non-physician health care providers (HCPs). Maintains strict confidentiality of provider information.
- Assists MEDDAC staff with preparation of requests for privileging. Submits requests for validation of information.
- Gather, organize, and maintain information; determine its importance and accuracy, and communicates it by a variety of methods.
- Initiate/establishes initial application and reappointment applications by Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIPs) applying/reapplying for clinical privileges.
- Provide credentials/privileging information to individuals who inquire at the office, by correspondence, or telephonically, to include all appropriate personnel within the MEDDAC area of responsibility.
- Verify primary source of documentation of the LIP through telephonic and written communications. Documentation may include transcripts, diplomas, licensures, contingency training, and/or board certification.

- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) experience utilizing office automation to maintain files, generate reports and create document; and (2) experience performing customer service duties such as assisting with completion of credentialing forms, reporting credentialing discrepancies and acting as liaison with organizations to obtain needed documentation such as transcripts, past employment references. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service, GS-05.
This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist must be able to type 40 words per minute (WPM) on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
