Job SummaryIf you have design skills, and easily connect with people, this position will provide you with meaningful opportunities to help in course development projects, try out new technologies, and make interactive learning experiences more engaging for Auburn University students and faculty.

This position is situated in the Auburn Online offices located in Foy Hall. The creative team members will help to create interactive and accessible Canvas courses by assisting instructional designers with various tasks to ensure quality course development.
Essential FunctionsUnder supervision and guidance of the Creative Team Lead, the individual in this position will:
  • Provide technical design and implementation of visuals in the Canvas LMS
  • Create course graphics for learning subject matter content
  • Identify/create, optimize and embed photos and graphics on pages
  • Create multimedia presentations for use in courses or video production
  • Create interactive learning objects and activities
  • Create accessible charts/graphs/diagrams
  • Create animations, animated movies and 3D models
  • Create virtual learning experiences
  • Communicate regularly with team members, Team Lead and Project Coordinator on work tasks and progress
  • Attend weekly development workshops, provide constructive feedback, and suggest improvements
  • Ensure all course content is in good working order and meets accessibility requirements
  • Troubleshoot course/page build issues and communicate more complex issues to the team
  • Document problem resolutions and new processes/procedures for the team knowledge base.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or Graduate Student
  • 15-20 work hours per week is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Good knowledge in design and design tools, including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and 3D modelling software such as Sketchup, Blender and Rhino
  • Experience with 3D modeling and/or virtual learning experiences
  • Effectively communicate (written and verbal) with a variety of stakeholders, including Auburn Online team (instructional designers, videographers, support team members, software developers, creative team members), instructors, and subject matter experts
  • Personal traits to include self-starter, independent worker, critical thinker, quick learner, adaptable, patient, attention to detail, accountable
  • Proficient with cloud-based technology and software, particularly Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management system (LMS) is preferred
  • Understanding of basic HTML is desired
