Marketing Position Summary

In this role, the Creative Director will lead our team of in-house designers, and work closely with agencies and freelancers, to breathe life into a comprehensive brand strategy, visual identity, creative output and competitive differentiation of our products among prospective and current customers. The Creative Director role will guide the creative department’s collaboration with product marketers to develop compelling creative concepts with the goal of generating new sales qualified leads and increasing engagement with existing leads.

Key activities include working with channel, content and corporate marketing colleagues to create simple, modern design across digital, video, events and collateral that effectively communicates product value propositions and evokes emotion. The role will be based in HealthStream’s Nashville office, and reports to the AVP Demand Marketing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES –

  • Translate product marketing objectives and strategies into clear creative design needs
  • Ensure visual communication and brand standards are met
  • Create brand guidelines and establish standards to empower the delivery of high-quality design work
  • Oversee the development of compelling campaigns that break-through and resonate with target audiences
  • Own and maintain the HealthStream brand and style guide - brand positioning and story, visual and verbal identity (look, feel, tone) and brand architecture
  • Lead the internal creative team, as well as external agencies and freelancers, on creative projects from strategy to conception through execution
  • Lead team members designing work for projects across multiple areas of the business, including events, integrated marketing and social/advertising campaigns, sales or other business unit priorities
  • Work with your team to develop and closely analyze creative briefs, developing unique and relevant ideas for digital, video, web, content, events and more
  • Scope, budget and plan the work required to complete creative campaigns, projects and initiatives
  • Act as brand ambassador to ensure that all employees understand the brand and the brand elements so that all external touchpoints effectively represent the HealthStream brand
  • Mentor all levels of creatives – from interns to leaders; taking an interest in professional development
  • Partner with product marketing to build out insightful creative platforms that successfully stretch across multiple channels and media
  • Oversee the creative production/operations to make sure the organization and reporting of work is consistent; file management is structured and the cost implications of creative decisions are tracked
  • Set an example of creative excellence that inspires and guides a team to always reach for the highest brand standards
  • Work with cross-departmental stakeholders and leads to establish requirements and SLAs for requests of the brand creative team, lead the internal creative process, and drive accountability for creative delivery
Job Specifications

1. KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • A Minimum of 8 years of successfully working in a creative team, with at least 5+ years of those spent in a leadership capacity
  • Minimum 4 years experience in a brand consultancy or in the brand planning or strategy department of an advertising agency or corporate firm
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects
  • Bachelor of Arts or Sciences in Marketing or Business Administration

2. SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Proven omni-channel knowledge and a strong command of the fundamentals—interaction design, user-centered experience design, brand development, digital marketing—as well as new platforms and technologies for digital channels and related media
  • Proven track record for outstanding concept ideation and award–winning creative
  • Interpersonal skills - exceptional verbal/written communication, listening, coaching, and presentation skills, and high attention to detail
  • A strong understanding of the scoping process and managing creative delivery within budget parameters
  • Experience in a B2B professional services environment; healthcare experience a plus
  • Experience working in a fast-moving, multi-stakeholder, evolving organization with a large degree of ambiguity

3. ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with high quality, attention to detail, and exceptional leadership, teamwork and internal communication skills
