Title: COVID Testing Tent Assistant

Shift: 4 Mixed Shifts or Per Diem

Shift Length: 8 hours

Location: UMass Memorial Medical Center – Marlborough

  • PURPOSE & PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Under the supervision of the Drive Through Testing Manager or his/her designee, performs a variety of activities to support the Outdoor testing operation while it is in operation.


  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English in a clear and concise manner
  • Must utilize proper safety techniques and body mechanics in all work-related activities
  • Ability to work outside in the New England weather during November, December, and January for duration of shift if necessary
  • Must work well in a team environment as this program has lots of moving parts and is quite fluid

OR equivalent combination of the above

** All required personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided by the Hospital in accordance with Safety Precautions established and maintained by the Centers For Disease Control

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communications and Teamwork: Demonstrates a commitment to maintain effective communications with all health team members and with all Hospital customers to facilitate and promote effective working relationships, customer service and patient satisfaction.

1.1 Demonstrates professional and courteous behavior to staff, patients and others and introduces self to visitors/patients. Wears ID badge 100% of time while working.

  • Communicates information clearly to patients, visitors and co-workers in both verbal and written form and documents information clearly and completely
  • Displays, through conduct and performance, an attitude which reflects the respectful treatment of others, a commitment to teamwork and commitment to the Hospital’s mission, values and goals. Participates in all appropriate ways to attend to the needs of all patients and visitors.

  • Accurately registers patients utilizing the CareEvole electronic platform provided by the BROAD institute. Pays close attention to the details provided by the patient and follows up with the patient as necessary to clarify and ensure accuracy.
  • Prints and labels previously collected specimens in accordance with protocols established by the Hospital to meet the acceptance criteria defined by our lab partner in the Stop the Spread Program.
  • Assists parking lot attendants at the Stop the Spread testing site to:
    • Manage traffic flow according to established protocols
    • Provide prepared test-kits to patients upon arrival and explain self-collection process and procedures
    • Observe specimen collection
    • Verify patient information
  • Provides clear, timely communication to supervisor if/when situations arise that are not addressed by existing protocols.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of a safe environment.
  • Always communicates with patients in a professional manner, be in in person or over the phone, as a representative of Marlborough Hospital.
  • Complies with Hospital wide privacy and information security policies at all times.
