Salary

$19.29 - $27.00 Hourly

$40,121 - $56,169 Annually

This position is a Pay Band CC

Why does the job exist?

Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

This position will provide general maintenance to include carpentry related jobs, sheet rock, painting, repairing floors, cleaning and similar duties within adult correctional facilities.

  • Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work indoors and outdoors

Ideal CandidateExperience with the following:
  • Working as an electrician
  • Working in other areas of maintenance
  • Operating vehicular and stationary mechanical equipment
Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or equivalency and one (1) year experience in building or facility maintenance.

Employment Requirements

This position is safety sensitive. Employment is subject to a pre-employment and random drug testing in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state rules and regulations regarding alcohol and/or drug testing. In addition, candidates must pass pre-employment academy screening. Successful completion of the New Mexico Corrections Academy within one (1) year of hire is required. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, must be at least 18 years old, have at least a high school education or its equivalent, be of good moral character, have not been convicted of a felony in the courts of this or any state or in the federal courts, and successfully pass any physical and aptitude examination the department may required. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Executive Order 2021-066 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination (including proof of a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster dose) or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.

The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated December 2, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to have received a primary series of vaccination by October 6, 2021, and a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster.

Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with and supervision of inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
