The Corporate Development Sr. Analyst will support the Director of Corporate Development in efforts to evaluate and execute corporate mergers, asset acquisitions and divestitures. Responsibilities include assisting with potential target identification, development and review of financial models, development of presentation materials and transaction execution. Assists in the coordination of all supporting resources, processes (legal, valuation and transaction evaluation, due diligence, corporate finance, etc.) and deal advisors.
Primary Responsibilities
Evaluate Potential Acquisition Opportunities
Conduct proprietary research and leverage secondary research on potential acquisition candidates within Grant Thornton’s prioritized investment areas
Evaluate target prospectuses and quickly identify potential benefits, risks and overall alignment with Grant Thornton’s strategy
Maintain deal pipeline reporting and related executive reporting on M&A activity
Financial Analysis / Due Diligence
Build, maintain and continuously improve on M&A models and other detailed financial/quantitative analyses
Support project management of cross-functional due diligence and integration planning process
Research & Analysis
Monitor and evaluate competitor news
Utilize research tools to build relevant industry, client channel and geographic analysis
Other
Support the development of C-level presentation materials
Strive for continuous improvement in the development of scalable tools, frameworks and methodologies to support the team
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics or Economics
Extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel and previous experience with integrated financial modeling
Excellent written and verbal communication
Proficiency with capital markets data base tools, including Capital IQ
Proficiency in remaining Microsoft Office products
Flexible to complete work during and beyond normal office hours as required by the job
Preferred Experience & Knowledge:
2-5 years of related proven work experience in a financial modeling environment, including but not limited to investment banking, corporate finance, corporate development or consulting
Ability to work in a professional services environment
Highly literate in fundamental finance and accounting concepts
Experience working in the M&A lifecycle and delivering on short deadlines
Ability to organize and process large amounts of data from multiple sources
