Job Description

The Communications Manager plays an important role on the Corporate Communications teams, focused on internal and external communications as needed. The role will provide tactical and strategic support for a broad range of communications to advance the IPG Health Network’s reputation. This includes supporting the development and execution of global PR strategies, internal employee communications programs, and a robust thought leadership program. The role will serve as lead corp comms liaison for Network agencies, providing strategic counsel and executional leadership for PR and marketing communications needs. They will report to the Associate Director, PR & Communication.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • PR and Media Relations

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key journalists and media outlets with a focus on top tier business and marketing trades

  • Tracking press editorial calendars for opportunities and creating pitch opportunities

  • Actively monitor competitive and media landscapes to identify press and thought leadership opportunities for executives and subject-matter experts

  • Drafting key messages, timelines, press releases and other materials to facilitate dissemination of news

  • PR results tracking and reporting

  • Internal Communications

  • Support development and execution of internal communications plans and tactics

  • Oversee and contribute content for employee-focused platforms and vehicles, including a SharePoint-based intranet, organizational announcements, e-newsletters, infographics and videos.

  • Provides strategic counsel to stakeholders across the business on employee communications

  • Assures that all internal messages are consistent with brand messaging

  • Collaborates on special communication projects and employee-focused events (all-hands town halls, Sales Rally, employee recognition awards)

  • Thought Leadership

  • Research, pitch and coordinate speaking opportunities for IPG Health Network spokespeople

  • Support thought leadership creation and promotion, including the writing and editing of comms to ensure consistent messaging, voice and clarity

  • Coordinating network presence & activations at industry events


  • Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal stakeholders and serve as corp comms liaison providing strategic counsel for agency leaders and leading:

  • PR for creative campaigns and other client work

  • Development and execution of agency specific PR plans

  • Ideation and creation of thought leadership opportunities and content

  • Development and submission of industry awards, rankings, and survey

  • Industry partnerships

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors degree in marketing, communications or business preferred but not required

  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from employees

  • Strong speaking skills and sensitivity to the organization’s goals and values and the ability to relay them to employees

  • Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills in order to work with communications and HR departments.

  • Confidence to deal with senior executives and explain communication techniques to them.

  • Creative ability to devise communication strategies

  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail

  • Deep understanding of new media channels and experience with multimedia storytelling; Solid to working knowledge of social media and content creation

  • Deep understanding and passion for employee communications and where it’s going as a field

  • Demonstrated experience providing executive communications and strong executive presence

  • Demonstrated strength in working collaboratively with and across a variety of global, cross-functional teams

  • Excellent creative and critical thinking

  • Proven ability to handle multiple, competing priorities in a dynamic environment
