Job Description

SUMMARY: In conjunction with the Quality Manager/Supervisor, coordinate performance of scheduled inspections at Receiving, WIP, and Finished Goods Inspection areas. Inspect product quality within the plant, ensuring that product inspections and quality assurance procedures are carried through as defined in the Hollander Quality Manual and meet the standards required by our customers and consumers. Make decisions based upon criteria in Quality Procedure Manual. Perform Quality Inspector’s duties as necessary. Perform Quality Supervisor/Manager duties when necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Includes the following; other duties may be assigned.)

  • Must be able to fill in for the Quality Supervisor/Manager for defined periods of time when needed.
  • Must be able to perform all Quality Inspector duties and responsibilities.
  • Schedule and perform daily random inspections of raw materials in the Receiving area, work in process in the Production lines, and finished goods in the Final Inspection area.
  • Ensure that quality standards are met in all areas of responsibility. Report and review all findings with Quality Supervisor/Manager and provide accurate and detailed reports to Corporate.
  • Prepare a Quality Issue Report on any/all items that are found to be non-conforming and/or items which cause issues during production.
  • Issue a Quality Alert when necessary.
  • Make quick, intelligent decisions.
  • Maintain accurate records of any non-conforming materials and follow up on a daily basis (if needed) as for disposition. Ensure the disposal of any non-conforming materials to avoid discrepancies. Work closely with the Inventory Supervisor to ensure this.
  • Work with Quality Supervisor/Manager in the event 100% inspection is needed, to provide staffing. Must be able to communicate and train additional staff for inspection.
  • Contain all non-conforming items and place them in a QA Hold status. Review all findings and work closely with QA Supervisor/Manager to get a resolution for any issues. Report any items placed in QA Hold status to the Inventory Manager and Facility Manager as necessary.
  • Work with Department Supervisors to provide samples when requested. Inspect and provide feedback on these samples. Ship samples and provide shipping costs to Quality Supervisor on each occurrence.
  • Present technical quality data via conference calls or email when needed.
  • Receive and review all items returned for non-conformances. Review with Quality Supervisor/Manager and help determine disposition.
  • Comply with all safety work rules and work safely. Report any safety issues to Quality Supervisor/Manager and Department Supervisor immediately.
  • Perform yearly self evaluation, setting measurable goals.
  • Follow all procedures as set in Quality Manual.
  • Be prepared for short notice assignments related to quality or other projects.
  • Report chronic quality control issues to Quality Supervisor/Manager for follow-up with plant management team.
  • Train new employees when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to make qualified decisions and accept responsibility for decisions made.
  • Experience in quality assurance for production manufacturing is ideal. Experience in the textile environment is preferred.
  • Must be able to perform inspections in all areas of production.
  • Have good vision and above average or superior color perception.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be able to use a tape measure accurately and follow detail instructions.
  • Knowledge of sewing is a plus. Must be able to identify sewing defects and causes.
  • Display the need for thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Have excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Also possess the ability to communicate effectively with plant management and employees.
  • COMPUTER SKILLS A MUST. Basic to medium knowledge of EXCEL is required.
  • Education: High School or equivalent
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/French) may be required, dependent on plant location.
