Description:

Monday-Friday 7:30-4:30pm.

The primary responsibility of the Patient Access Coordinator is to actively coordinate and direct the patient flow upon arrival within the department according to the policies and procedures of the Patient Services Department’s triage process. The individual in this position will be able to serve as a liaison between patients and clinical staff, Security staff, Patient Services staff, and Registration staff. The Patient Access Coordinator is also responsible for directing patients to the appropriate departments within the health center.

The Patient Access Coordinator displays initiative, superb judgment, and outstanding customer service and communication skills with patients. Conformity to the health center’s confidentiality principles, and understanding of the health center’s mission also required. Patient Services is a team of staff with high profile roles, and is most often the first person a new patient to the health center interacts with.

The scope of a Patient Access Coordinator includes support of the health center’s new patient primary care provider (PCP) assignment, registration, insurance enrollment processes and acts as patient advocates. The primary functions includes actively recruiting, assessing, screening, and interviewing potential and actual patients of all ages for eligibility to a government sponsored health coverage programs. The Patient Access Coordinator is responsible for assisting with insuring that all eligibility applications are complete, accurate, and processed in a timely manner and that pertinent coverage and other important data is entered correctly into EPIC.
