Job Description

Position Scope:

The Accounting Coordinator position is an experienced level Coordinator responsible for handling larger volumes of vendor invoices and/or cash application transactions. The Accounting Coordinator will handle varied and complex transactions to include following: integrating/consolidating bolt-on acquisitions into existing systems/processes, ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of vendor payments and related controls, reports and tax filings for accounts payable, applying customer receipts and designing/implementing process improvements. The position requires an understanding of how these functions impact the business and the ability to extract data required for analysis from a number of systems, such as ReadSoft, SAP and any future solutions. The Graphic Packaging Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Accounting Coordinators are part of a corporate, centralized function that process approximately 600,000 invoices per year and disburses over $2.5 billion and receives in excess of $4 billion in customer payments.


Position Responsibilities: Principal Duties and Responsibilities: five to eight key responsibilities/activities for which the position is accountable:

  • Responsible for processing all assigned vendor invoices for payment (approximately 25,000 – 40,000 invoices each year)
  • Partner with Graphic Packaging internal team & company vendors to resolve issues preventing an invoice from being processed for payment.
  • Perform Accounts Receivable/Cash Application functions as assigned
  • Work as a backup to other positions in the department as assigned
  • Design, suggest and execute process improvements by performing root cause analysis and identifying the key drivers in the Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable processes with a focus on gains in automation of processes, recurring issues and bottlenecks to the process (i.e. workflow analysis, sales and use tax, vendor usage, etc.)
  • Maintain financial security by following internal accounting controls, best practices and appropriate checks and balances

Schedule Demands:

  • General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
  • Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.

Physical Demands:

  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
  • Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.

Required Experience

Background / Experience:

  • Three to eight years of related experience or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or other Business Related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of SAP and Concur beneficial.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Education / Knowledge:

  • High School diploma or GED required
