What is the position intended to contribute?
Under the guidance of more senior engineers and/or supervisors, this entry level position provides independent control systems design for electromechanical packaging equipment. The individual contributor will possess the technical foundation in PLC system design and associated software development. They will also possess basic multi-disciplined engineering skills, critical thinking capability, and the ability to work and communicate with personnel from each discipline within the company.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION: Describe 5 or 6 important responsibilities of the position; each statement should specify both what is done and how it is accomplished. Indicate the approximate percent of time required for each.
Design and develop PLC electrical systems for packaging equipment.
Develop PLC programming and HMI interface software for packaging equipment.
Design and build electronics and test fixtures, troubleshoot product electronics and electrical designs, and conduct product and component testing.
Complete and execute engineering changes and/or support the completion of engineering changes by completing software updates, reviewing technical aspects of change proposals including component drawings, tolerance analysis, and process adherence to the engineering change procedure.
Build regulatory knowledge relative to Triangle products to assure product safety and control design fulfill machinery safety regulations for the environments in which they are used. This job function will require direct interface with product safety and electronics testing vendors.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Describe the knowledge and skill areas that are needed to fully achieve acceptable performance in this position.
This position requires mathematical understanding of mechanical motion, programming timing, fundamental programming skills, and PLC programming exposure. Basic knowledge of Rockwell RS5000 software, FactoryTalk View Studio ME and B&R Automation Studio is preferred.
CONTACTS: Describe the significant contacts required by the position both outside the department and in other organizations.
Employee will be communicating with a wide range of contacts. These include the business president, internal and external sales, purchasing, service, assemblers, marketing personnel, accounting, and in occasional instances direct contact with Triangle customers. Additionally, the employee will also communicate with component suppliers and product safety testing vendors.

This position requires the individual to interpret customer requirements, develop product electrical control design requirements for components that drive or interact with mechanical drive systems, and complete testing under tight time constraints. At times there may be several projects occurring that the individual may need to manage and complete concurrently. Field issues or sales questions may interrupt daily workflow and must be managed to allow work to be completed in a timely manner.

The individual in this position will exercise independent judgment and engineering skills to design and support the manufacture of Triangle products. Each product design is based upon design specifications that were/are developed through customer communications and joint efforts with product management, sales, service, and global marketing representatives. This position will strive to meet or exceed these design specifications by providing the assemblers a thoroughly planned assembly area with understandable, detailed and accurate assembly documents that will guide the consistent and accurate manufacture of each product.

Employee will be expected to rapidly develop practical skills using Rockwell RS5000 software, FactoryTalk View Studio ME and B&R Automation Studio. The position also requires an individual to learn and understanding best design practices related to GUI design and be able to implement them into daily work. Additionally, the candidate must become fluent using MS Office products and understand project management principals.
Work environment includes professional office areas, electronics laboratory, manufacturing environment, machine shop, and customer packaging environments.
