The Capability Manager reports to the Design Capability Lead. They are primarily responsible for building up the capabilities in people by equipping team members with the skills, tools, and standard approaches to deliver functional excellence, while instilling our Leadership Principles into their daily work and inspiring others to do the same. The Capability Manager is also responsible for ensuring team members are deployed to value-creation opportunities that would benefit from their unique skills and talents either in long-term roles supporting the business, or in small, independent squads.
The Capability Manager will evaluate, promote, coach, and develop people. They do this based on regular formal and informal feedback from stakeholders vs. through direct oversight. This role does not focus on day-to-day activities of the team. Rather, this role dedicates time and attention to identifying capabilities, business and strategic opportunities. Through leadership and innovation, the Design and Development Capability Manager identifies and champions proactive opportunity maximization.

Responsibilities include:
- Building skills and capabilities of others, specifically in the area of content design and development
- Equipping others with skills, tools, and standard approaches to deliver excellence
- Maximizing value by effectively deploying resources appropriately to value-creation opportunities
- Evaluating, coaching and developing people by leveraging feedback from others
- Proactively identifying capabilities, strategic and business opportunities and developing solutions
- Identifying and removing impediments for capability members
- Learning and adopting industry-recognized capability standards and practices

Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in Learning and Development. Direct experience in the domain of design and development preferred (either directly or indirectly)
- Proven skills in influencing across multiple levels in the organization to drive successful outcomes
- Ability to think outside the box and challenge the way we do things to improve the experiences of our business partners and colleagues and deliver results more collaboratively, effectively and efficiently
- A team player. Someone who embraces and promotes collaboration opportunities and recognizes that the GCB Learning team can only be as good as its team members collectively
