WSP USA is currently looking for a Construction Services Area Manager/Senior Project Manager for the Los Angeles Area, California operations. The Area Manager will lead and expand market share in transportation and infrastructure, support diversification and growth, drive strategic direction, and lead the operation for financial and staffing growth. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with the other regional Area Managers in growing the WSP presence throughout Los Angeles and the West Region. Stimulating client success is one of WSP USA’s driving tenets. With a long history in Southern California, WSP has engaged in projects such as the Gerald Desmond Bridge Design-Build, Fairview Drive Grade Separation and Lemon Avenue Interchange, I-15 Express Lanes Design-Build, and many others. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drive performance of the business, strategically grow our market share and become a preferred provider to our clients.
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships with new and existing clients in the area
  • Be a recognized leader in the local community; and be active with the outside organization (CMAA, ACEC, ASCE, WTS, etc.)
  • Maintain a strong focus on business development and marketing for both new and existing clients
  • Perform marketing and networking activities to develop and maintain strong client relationships, expand work, assist with developing strategic teaming partners; Work with other Southern California Area Managers in balancing work-load in business development opportunities
  • Address and resolve conflict and other internal/external issues that may arise in the office, amongst the client base, or on projects
  • Coordinate efforts with our Human Resources group, strategically driving the business, managing project performance, overseeing overhead expenditures, and managing the financial metrics involved with running the business.
  • Develop staffing plans and schedules to meet task requirements, delivering technical excellence and quality work in accordance with project schedules and budgets
  • As Project Manager
  • Manage sub-consultants
  • Supervise field inspection and field office personnel
  • Review work in accordance with applicable codes and standards included in the project drawings and specifications
  • Responsible for quality control of field engineering, contract administration, inspection, testing, and surveying on projects
  • Apply diversified knowledge of construction engineering principles and practices and independently make decisions on significant construction engineering problems
  • Develop and maintain team inspection standards at high quality level of delivery
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 17 or more years of experience in the Transportation Industry, focusing on a combination of the following: Business and Operations Management, Business Development, Project Management, Program Management.
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered Civil Engineer in the State of California.
  • Demonstrated balanced, solid management/leadership skills, including the ability to lead and develop staff.
  • Strongly established relevant client relationships and industry contacts in the California market.
  • Demonstrated and sound decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practice.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Good writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • The ability to travel occasionally.
  • The ability to work in the United States immediately.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with local, state, and transit organizations in the Los Angeles areas
