Job Description

CONSTRUCTION ACCOUNTANT

Red Bay Constructors, a commercial concrete and masonry contractor serving the Carolinas and Georgia, seeks a qualified and highly motivated construction accountant / financial specialist to join our growing team. The construction accountant will primarily be responsible for reviewing and maintaining fiscal records, the general ledger, bank reconciliations, accounts payable and job cost. Additionally, this position requires the ability to make cash flow projections, run job profitability reports and analyze overall company profitability. Professional references, background check and a drug test are required. No solicitations please.

ACCOUNTING RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the general ledger
  • Perform daily accounting functions such as AP, AR, Purchasing and Billing
  • Communicate and coordinate with Project Managers on a variety of financial and job-related topics
  • Set up new projects and maintain billing folders for all projects with appropriate documents, including monthly waivers and invoices
  • Oversee accounts payable, daily cash balance reconciliations and corporate invoices
  • Prepare monthly billings for multiple construction projects and monitor job costs
  • Review and process subcontractor payment requests
  • Monitor job progress and any potential overages against purchase orders and/or budgets
  • Issue invoices, PO’s, work closely with consultants, vendors, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely invoicing and payment.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations
  • Help maintain contract documents
  • General office duties to include copying, scanning, filing, mail runs and answering phone calls as needed

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will be a highly self-motivated individual who is able to work both independently and as part of a team. The candidate will also possess excellent customer service and communication skills. Specific job-related requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance required
  • 3 to 5+ years of accounting experience required
  • Construction industry experience preferred
  • Exceptional ability to prepare construction project budgets, reports, financial forecasts, cash flow projections and job profitability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; Experience with Sage100 Contractor or similar accounting platform preferred.
  • Must have effective time management skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
