Constituent Outreach Coordinator for the Minority Caucus

The Ohio House Democratic Caucus is seeking a creative and motivated digital media and outreach coordinator. This individual will serve as a crucial part of our legislative communications team that is charged with developing and managing the message of the Democratic caucus as well as the 35 elected state representatives that comprise it.
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal communications skills and a willingness to network and build relationships; a proven ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously in a complex environment; superb writing, analytical, visual and verbal skills; an interest and passion for Democratic politics; a demonstrated record of building and engaging online communities; and a strong understanding of digital and content marketing tools.
The caucus will rely on this person to be a leader of our digital content development and dissemination strategy. This individual will develop and share content on multiple social media channels that drives awareness of the great work our caucus is doing at the statehouse and reinforces the House Democrats’ mission of working for the people of Ohio.
Flexibility and a willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends is necessary.

Qualifications
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as a liaison between the legislative aides and the communications team
- Identify community relations opportunities with earned media activity
- Direct the Public Service Announcement (PSA) program and staff the members during taping
- Photograph committee meetings and legislative session floor speeches
- Provide live social media coverage of press conferences and other legislative-related activities
- Develop a dynamic community outreach strategy that brings the House Democrats’ message to the public and engages key audiences within the districts
Reporting relationship:
- Reports to the Minority Director of Communications
- Works closely with the Deputy Minority Director of Communications, LSC Fellow and legislative aides
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of relevant work experience
- Strong writing and copyediting ability with sound editorial judgement and knowledge of AP Style
- Familiarity with graphic design and website management
- Deep understanding of social media platforms, trends and best practices as well as a willingness to share that knowledge with others within the caucus
- Ability to work quickly and independently in a fast-paced environment while juggling multiple projects with competing timelines
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail
- Enthusiastic, proactive and friendly with excellent communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn new skills and the ability to work in an ever-changing and flexible environment
- Proven ability to perform well under pressure
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of the legislative process
- Experience working in Ohio politics
- Experience with social monitoring and scheduling tools such as HootSuite
- Video production skills
