Job Description

The AmeriCorps Urban Safety (AMUS) Program is currently seeking members to complete community outreach during evenings and weekends. Members will receive a full orientation to the AMUS Program and its initiatives, as well as training and experience in survey and community needs assessment methods, public health and safety, leadership, coaching, mentorship, and community organizing. AmeriCorps is a national program of volunteer service. Terms are 20 to 30 hours per week, and members may enroll for terms of 3 to 6 months.

Member activities will include virtual & in-person community meetings, community organizing, event coordination and the use of surveys, leafleting, community meetings and social media to gather data, communicate vital information, and implement strategic response strategies. Members, program staff and community partners collaborate to build strategies to engage and serve vulnerable and underserved communities.

  • A living stipend based on the term of service selected
  • An education award (scholarship) after the successful completion of service term
  • Volunteer service stipends do not count as income when applying for needs-tested benefits (e.g., unemployment, food stamps, housing, Medicaid, and other cash assistance)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $500.00 - $2,200.00 per month

Schedule:

Evening shift

Monday to Friday

Some Weekend availability

PPE (masks, gloves) provided.

Permits working another job during off hours

Permits attendance at school during off hours

Education:

High school or equivalent (Preferred)

License/Certification:

Driver's License (Preferred)
