Position Title: Community Engagement Recruitment Manager
Salary Grade: Exempt, Salary Grade 7 – Full Time
Reports To: Chief Program Officer

Position Summary: The Community Engagement Recruitment Manager is responsible for developing and executing effective recruiting strategies to increase girl and adult membership in assigned, established geographic areas. Also responsible for securing girl and adult volunteer participation and community partnership to implement Girl Scouting within an assigned area.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assists in achieving the council’s goals for girl and adult membership through implementing membership strategies in assigned areas.
- Designs a comprehensive plan for girl and adult membership growth in targeted areas by researching market data, membership trends and other pertinent information relevant to designated areas.
- Implements membership recruitment marketing strategies outlined in the council’s strategic plan, annual business plan and/or other council goals including cultivation and organization of communities to result in increased girl and volunteer leads.
- Prepares action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made to meet membership goal.
- Seeks opportunities to engage and keeps in contact with community organizations, agencies and leaders, educators, and faith-based institutions to increase awareness of and participation in Girl Scouting.
- Cultivates relationships with appropriate community leaders, organizations, and business to support recruitment efforts within targeted areas to positively impact membership growth.
- Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to potential and existing members of the council.
- Follows up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity in a timely fashion.
- Works with cross-functional team to determine or develop innovative techniques to ensure the effective delivery of recruitment strategies.
- Promotes and assists with council-wide activities, public relations, and fund development endeavors.
- Helps foster and implement the council’s policy to strive for a volunteer, employee, and program participant population reflective of the area’s religious, racial, ethnic, social and economic diversity.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Staff members are accountable for achieving their performance goals that collectively enable GSNNJ to reach our council goals. Each staff member is expected to take an active role in all areas of operations, especially by being alert to opportunities to identify and engage potential volunteers, girl members, donors, vendors, collaborators, etc. and providing contact information to the appropriate staff person.
Each employee is a representative of Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey. Others form their impressions of GSNNJ based, in part, on their interaction with employees. Every personal contact made by a GSNNJ employee could be a current or potential donor; thus, these impressions can influence donor actions. Each employee is expected to take an active role in development by being alert to opportunities to identify potential new donors and providing contact information to the Chief Development and Communications Officer. On occasion, employees may be asked to participate in site visits and/or follow-up calls with contacts.
. Requirements:Education, Skills, Experience Requirement:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field.
- Sales or recruitment experience and knowledge of Girl Scout policies and procedures preferred.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and active listening skills.
- Exceptional time management capability to work in fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Superior verbal communication/presentation skills; confident, friendly, social and outgoing.
- Ability to speak to small and large groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; able to learn, understand and apply tools in Salesforce to ensure all leads are entered into the system.
- Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
- Membership in GSUSA is required upon employment and annually thereafter.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work primarily on the road with minimal in-office time, familiarity with demographics and trends in coverage area.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable automobile, and auto insurance.
