FLSA Classification: Non-exempt; hourly

Pay Range: $18.00-21.00 DOE per hour plus competitive benefits

Spanish Bilingual differential: $0.75 per hour (as applicable)

Position Type: Full-time / 40 hours per week

Expected Hours per Week: Mon-Fri; 8:00a-4:30p with the ability to flex hours to accommodate business needs.

Location: Main Administration- 5706 Wright Dr. Loveland, CO 80538

Remote Eligibility: Level 2- This position is expected to work onsite but may be allowed to work from home intermittently in some cases.

Summary: The Food Bank for Larimer County has incredible stories to tell, and we need a solid Communications Coordinator to help share them across our communications platforms. We’re looking for a multimedia storyteller who’s ready to make a real difference in Larimer County through meaningful projects that connect our clients to our services, keep our team informed, generate awareness about food insecurity in the region, and keep crucial allies like our donors and volunteers engaged in our work. Through graphic design, photography, short videos, and some written stories, you’ll help inform all stakeholders about what’s happening at the Food Bank. Your work will be used in marketing materials, newsletters, on our website and across our social media accounts. Though there is a strong emphasis on visual communications in this position, writing is still a key part of the job.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

GRAPHIC DESIGN

  • Researches, conceptualizes, designs and creates promotional materials, web graphics and dynamic content as needed.
  • Reviews print material to ensure consistent branding and messaging throughout the organization (e.g., logo, promotional materials, events, product lines) and community.

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Prioritizes staff, client, volunteer and donor photography and videography to help tell the story of the Food Bank.
  • Scripts, shoots, and edits a wide variety of videos (client, volunteer, demonstration, safety, etc.).
  • Assists with organizational newsletters to share updates and impact with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of client story database for use in print and promotional materials and on social media channels.
  • Assists with communications to support campaigns, events, and other fundraising opportunities.
  • Assists with organizational communications support for each department as applicable to ensure organizational alignment.

MARKETING & COMMUNITY RELATIONS

  • Helps design and create annual content calendar, including monthly themes and execution across channels.
  • Designs and creates display advertisements for use in print and online media outlets.
  • Remains ready to act as an ambassador for the Food Bank at all times.

WEBSITE & SOCIAL MEDIA

  • Assists with the development and maintenance of the organizational website including methods to deliver messaging, ease of navigation and clarity of information; ensures that all content is current, compelling and relevant.
  • Partners with each department to coordinate website and social media content to support departmental communication priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

Competencies: An expert-level ability with Adobe Creative Cloud programs, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and InDesign, is required. Strong knowledge of design and visual principles, social media content development, story-telling, photography and videography proficiency, public speaking, media relations, communication proficiency (especially communicating design choices clearly), collaboration skills, leadership, organizational skills, presentation skills, teamwork orientation, technical capacity, time management, reasoning ability with ability to make sound decisions under pressure, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others, including generational and cultural competency and awareness are requisite to success in this position.

Education and Experience: Associate degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Media Relations, or an equivalent combination of education and successful work experience in this or a related field required.

Pre-employment screening requirements: Ability to pass a drug test.

Language Skills and Ability: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at a professional level with a strong preference of bi-lingual in Spanish.

Computer Skills: Must be proficient with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and all relevant Microsoft Office applications. Strong familiarity with all technical aspects of graphic design, photography and video production is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Work Environment: This position works in an office and warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day.
