Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • In conjunction with VP of Communications and Creative Services Director, develops internal and external communications plans in support of strategic communications initiatives
  • Develops and edits content across communication platforms for consistent messaging to enhance overall perception of organization and provide announcement of pertinent organizational information
  • Maintains editorial calendar with promotion schedules for BBB events and programs
  • Builds monthly newsletters for Accredited Businesses and Capable Consumers
  • Maintains email marketing platform to communicate to business and consumer communities
  • Engages new and existing audiences using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and other appropriate social media outlets
  • Monitors the marketplace for trends in social media; new features/options, and reviews them for implantation in social media efforts
  • Conducts research and data analysis as needed (Internet, Scam Tracker, Blue) to support/augment BBB’s position as a content expert
  • Monitors local and national news sites on a routine basis for articles/commentary on scams and issues affecting the marketplace
  • Research and write press releases and disseminate.
  • Maintains media contact and distribution list plus earned media mentions
  • Write content for BBB.org/Minnesota website and its subsidiary landing pages
  • Represents BBB at programs and events as needed and directed by VP of Communications
  • Supports digital marketing initiatives and tracking

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists with graphic design and web content creation as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by VP of Communications

Experience, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree with major in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a Communications or Public Relations role required, non-profit orientation preferred
  • Minimum of 1 experience working within social media arena with a solid understanding of social media platforms and internet outreach strategies.
  • Exceptional AP style writing, editing, and content strategy and development expertise, including experience in crafting key messages, newsletters, and digital content.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work under tight deadline schedules.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with a wide range of individuals.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and judgment capabilities.
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, organizational, business communication and time management skills.
  • Photo and video-editing skills.
  • Experience in Adobe Experience Manager web design is a big plus.
  • Effective planning, organizational and detail-orientated skills – ability to prioritize multiple projects and adjust workload accordingly.
  • Must take initiative, be self-motivated and an independent, accountable, dependable performer.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, with demonstrated capability in Word, Excel, PPT, Teams and Outlook.
