Communications and Development Intern
Minimum Qualifications:
- Believe in the core values of Star House, driven by its mission
- Must hold or be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing or
English
- Excellent written, oral and relationship skills; strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and social media channels, including Twitter,
Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
- Must have experience with design software, such as Canva
- Experience with donations, donor databases and Salesforce is preferred
- Experience with WIX, Sprout Social, Icontact and/or Google Suite is a plus
- Ability to work in and promote a collaborative, team-work environment
Job Objectives:
Star House is seeking a Communications and Development Intern that will play an integral role in helping to support our growing organization’s communications and development efforts.
This team member will work directly with the Communications and Grant Manager on internal and external communications tasks and with the Director of Development on processing and acknowledging various donations.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
The following duties are representative of this role; however, the list below is not ranked in order of importance.
- Develop a strong Communications Plan for the organization in collaboration with the
Communications and Grant Manager
- Create and publish social media content to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn
(with approval from Communications and Grant Manager)
- Design images and infographics for social media posts, newsletters and the website
- Update and maintain Star House’s social media calendar
- Maintain regular, strategic communication with team members regarding guest needs, donations, upcoming events and more
- Monitor engagement on social media platforms and respond in a timely and appropriate manner using the Star House voice
- Assist in creating communications plans and toolkits for campaigns and events
- Monitor and track external events and fundraising efforts for Star House on social media for
- Assist in drafting content for Star House’s monthly newsletter and e-blasts
- Update the website and review grant language, as needed
- Monitor and track in-kind donations electronically
- Enter gifts (checks) into Salesforce
- Attend events, as needed
- Additional duties as needed
