This position responds to the customers’ needs for service of equipment through maintenance, diagnosis and repair of refrigeration, heating & air-conditioning systems commonly installed in supermarkets, convenience stores, and cold storage facilities with assistance/direction from a Master or Lead Service Technician.
Description
- Respond to customers’ needs for service of equipment through maintenance, diagnosis and repair of refrigeration, heating & air-conditioning systems commonly installed in supermarkets, convenient stores, and cold storage facilities (with assistance/direction from a Master or Lead Service Technician)
- Perform prescribed, routing maintenance procedures on supermarket refrigeration system and self-contained temperature-controlled merchandisers with direction from a Master or Lead Service Technician
- Complete preventative maintenance compressor change assists, leak searching and coil washing with direction from a Master or Lead Service Technician
- Acquire knowledge through on-the-job training which includes new product development, service bulletins, and computer-based training
- Complete necessary documents (work tickets and timesheets) and electronic communication in a thorough, accurate and timely manner
- Utilize handheld computer to complete necessary customer paperwork and invoicing requirements
- Maintain and manage truck inventory in an accurate, neat an orderly manner as well as adhere to vehicle maintenance program guidelines (if applicable)
- Identify and use the standard tools of the trade, including refrigerant recovery equipment.
- Develop and maintain excellent customer relations
- Additional duties as assigned by the management team
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or 5 years’ relevant experience
- One year experience in commercial refrigeration (supermarket preferred)
- Valid driver’s license to maintain a safe driving record in accordance with the fleet policy
- Must be physically able to walk distances, bend, crouch, climb ladders, work at high elevations and lift/carry objects up to 50 pounds, all repetitively and for extended periods
- EPA certification
- Knowledge of refrigeration, electrical and microprocessor control systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; detail-orientated and highly motivated
- Ability to operate independently
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Work nights and/or weekends as required
- Strong leadership and business acumen
- Superior decision-making ability and paperwork skills
