Citi Global Securitized Markets (GSM) is looking for an Analyst to work within our US Commercial Mortgage Back Securities (CMBS) group. The Analyst would work on a CMBS underwriting team that is dedicated to a specific originator that focuses on making loans in the US and would be based in New York City. The candidate would work with an Originator on sizing deals, helping with the underwriting process, preparing credit briefs/Asset Summaries and financial analysis packages that exam the financial feasibility and credit worthiness of fixed rate CMBS loans. Work would also include inspecting the assets, coordinating with our internal appraisers and engineers, closing staff, outside counsel, and working with our due diligence vendors. Other responsibilities include analyzing property financial statements, resolving transactional issues that escalate in third party reports, review borrower financial statements, comprehend and summarize legal documents, and present transactions to senior managers, rating agencies and b-buyers for approval.
Responsibilities:
- Work with senior Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) officers and professionals and participate in particular client transactions, projects or assignments as the junior member of the Investment Banking team
- Responsible for organizing and analyzing sophisticated financial data used in client proposals and strategic plans
- Prepare written recommendations, valuation materials and statistical exhibits for pitches and live deals
- Conduct economic/financial research
- Evaluate company’s financial performance compared to overall industry and market trends
- Build complex financial models for valuation purposes
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
Candidates to have 1 to 3 years of real estate lending or related real estate work experience.
- Summer internships within the field of real estate would be a plus.
- Proficiency with Excel and preferably some exposure to Argus.
- Strong attention to detail with a proven ability to multitask.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
