Job Description

Nursing facilities in Decatur, TX have immediate openings for Certified Medication Aides! The medication aide must possess current, unrestricted certification as a Medication Aide in the state of Texas. The medication aide is responsible for properly administering medications to residents, documenting medication administration, and monitoring for results in accordance with state and federal guidelines. The medication aide will work closely with members of the nursing management team to ensure that resident safety, dignity, and well-being are protected at all times.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current Medication Administration certification from state.
  • Ability to record information and perform technical procedures.
  • Good communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience.
  • Demonstrate competence for medication administration.
  • Ability to perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below.
  • Genuine care and interest in elderly and handicapped people.
  • Ability to comply with the Patient Bill of Rights and the Employee Responsibilities.
  • Ability to comply with Company and departmental safety policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for appropriately administering resident’s prescribed PO, topical (unbroken skin) and rectal medication according to the physician’s orders and Medication Administration policies.
  • Monitors adverse effects of administered medications and reports them immediately to Charge Nurse.

· Records all medication administration according to company policy.

· Reports any medication errors immediately to Charge Nurse.

· Responsible for maintaining security of the medication cart and environment free of accident hazards.

  • Responsible for maintaining confidentiality and privacy of residents.

· Responsible for observing infection control policies for medication administration.

· Responsible for properly monitoring assigned administration of resident medication.

· Responsible for notifying the Charge Nurse of complaints, reactions or any change in resident status.

· Ability to lift, bend and twist repetitively with minor assistance.

· Basic Computer Knowledge.

CHARGE NURSE

Skilled Care of Mexia has immediate openings for LVN or RN Charge Nurses in Mexia, Texas! The charge nurse will work closely with all members of the nursing team to manage the workflow of nursing staff in accordance with company, state, and federal requirements.

Requirements:

  • LVN or RN with required state licensure.
  • Excellent technical, assessment and documentation skills.
  • Leadership qualities and good communication skills.
  • Ability to organize work flow, respond to emergencies and note detail.
  • Ability to perform work tasks within the physical demand requirements as outlined below.
  • Genuine care interest in elderly and handicapped people.
  • Ability to comply with the Patient Bill of Rights and the Employee Responsibilities.

  • Supervise staff through appropriate assignment and delegation of duties, within resident census.
  • Properly monitor administration of resident medication and medication reorders.
  • Implement resident care plans in compliance with Company and federal guidelines, and physician's orders.
  • Perform and supervise treatments.
  • Accurately and promptly transcribe physician orders, contacting physician with change of condition report.
  • Timely and accurate documentation of resident's charts. Complete Nursing assessment as required.
  • Participate in shift report.
  • Assume responsibility of staff nurse when necessary.
  • Implement established nursing policy and procedures, educating support staff regarding care needs of residents.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, complying with infection control and body mechanic procedures.
  • Respond to need for staffing shortages by arranging for replacement staff.
  • Manage investigations for resident variances, contacting family, completing resident incident and variance reports.
  • Manage lab orders, lab results, contacting physician for follow-up orders
  • Must work a minimum of eight (8) consecutive hours each day.
