LEGACY MOD
Our Legacy Modernization team drives change through our client’s entire organizations. The business decisions which dictate a migration from an aging mainframe to a distributed or cloud-based modern environment affect not only a client’s revenue, but their daily processes. Modernization gives our client’s the ability to grow and change with technology; saving them money on hardware maintenance contracts while giving them the flexibility to pivot as the economy does.
Our team of experienced Software Architects design and plan our client’s modernization journey to the platform of their choice, while our Software Engineers transform millions of lines of code. Our DevOps Engineers and Testers modernize our client’s development processes while our COBOL and Mainframe specialists focus on the migration efforts themselves. These projects can be large or small and give all of our team members the chance to work with professionals with a wide base of skillsets.
SUMMARY/ROLE:
Astadia’s Sr. Cloud Architects provide cloud engineering and DevOps services to our clients on a variety of projects types, most importantly is mainframe migrations as our core business, and other areas where our clients need to focus on DevOps frameworks to advance their maturity. The Sr. Cloud Architect will be responsible for forming and providing architectures that meet the migrations needs and the client needs. Also, the role will be responsible for cloud-services implementations using the latest CI/CD processes. These processes focus on infrastructure as code using ARM Templates, Desired State Configuration (DSC), and PowerShell for the Azure cloud. And for AWS, the role will be using CloudFormation, Ansible, and/or Terraform depending on the client directions. The role will be responsible for the technologies of pipeline automation using Jenkins and/or Azure Pipelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interface with internal team members and clients to provide cloud-based services
- Provide the expertise the team needs to maintain the high level of Cloud and DevOps knowledge needed by our clients
- Work with various Cloud and DevOps technologies
- Deliver Cloud and DevOps technologies to clients both internal and external
- Thrive in an environment of collaboration and change
- Work within established modernization standards and best practices
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION
- Hands on Azure configuration management using ARM Templates, Desired State Configuration, and PowerShell.
- Hands on AWS configuration management using CloudFormation.
- Hands on experience using Azure Pipelines, Repos, Artifacts, and Boards.
- Hands on cloud engineering in Azure and AWS.
- Hands on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with code analysis tools using SonarQube and AppScan.
- Experience with code testing frameworks using Selenium and Cucumber.
- Experience with TFS, GIThub, and CodeCommit.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms and jobs using Jenkins, Ansible, Packer, Vagrant, and Terraform/CloudFormation a plus.
- Experience with DevOps models.
- Experience with integration of tools in DevOps including Jenkins, JIRA, Slack, Selenium, Nexus, GITHub, and TFS.
- Minimum 5+ years experience in Azure.
- Minimum 3+ years in DevOps and CI/CD.
- Excellent verbal, presentation and written communications skills.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or technical field experience equivalent.
Bonus skills:
- Prior knowledge of mainframe systems is a bonus to include:
- Micro Focus Visual COBOL, Micro Focus Enterprise Developer, Micro Focus COBOL Server, Micro Focus Enterprise Server
- Unisys: ECL, TIP, DMS, DPS1100, Mapper, LINC, MASM, Algol, Fortran
- IBM: COBOL, CICS, IMS, DB2, IMS-DB, Assembler
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Undergraduate degree or 20+ years of comparable work experience; educational concentration in Information Technology or similar field is preferred
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Up to 10% monthly depending on location.
