Liaison will primarily be responsible for independently analyzing, resolving and/or escalating physician/clinician concerns relating to enterprise-wide electronic medical record (EMR), physician portal, and Personal Health Record (PHR) systems. Also consults and collaborates with physicians and IT&S Clinical project teams in order to jointly resolve advanced technical issues that surface.
Essential Duties:
- Maintains a deep understand of EMR and related clinical systems capabilities, and a detailed understanding of the EMR functionality, and is able to independently apply that knowledge to properly respond to work flow situations.
- Exercises independent judgment when proactively or reactively addressing physician and clinical end-user adoption issues.
- Develops and maintains key physician and sponsor relationships within the organization and motivates clinical end-user adoption of the EMR.
- Educates and trains end-users to adapt the system to meet their clinical workflow needs. Coaches clinical end-users on the system functionality and how to integrate the EMR to facilitate their daily workflow.
- Actively participates on the IT&S eClinical systems implementation team by providing detailed feedback, analysis and recommendations regarding technical issues that surface. Independently seeks solutions to issues raised as needed.
- Facilitates and/or leads physician (end-user) focus groups and complies and responds to feedback as needed.
- Creates and facilitates communication strategies to key EMR clinical communities, including senior leadership, as needed.
- Develops own work and travel schedule to be able to provide direct on-call and/or on-site support needed (24/7) for UH physicians/clinicians across assigned, local UH facilities.
- Implements EMR change management plans relating to physician adoption.
- Utilizes adoption measurements tools, and timely prepares and submits technology data/reports.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Minimum 3 years of clinical workflow experience required.
- Clinical Liaison, or face-to-face IT&S support vs. help desk support, experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with a wide variety of end-users, at varying technology skill levels, required. Experience interfacing with salary level professionals and senior management preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically, solve problems and meet client expectations required.
- Notable client service, communication, presentation and relationship building skills required.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and maintain confidentiality required.
- Ability to integrate technology in a patient care setting, and function independently in a fast-paced environment, required. Positive approach to work and the work environment required.
- Strong project management and organizational skills required.
Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:
- Strong sills in MS Office suite with emphasis on Power Point, Excel and Microsoft Project required.
- Knowledge of Eclipsys or other EMR< Portal, or PHR knowledge preferred.
- Experience with clinical system implementation preferred.
Education/Expertise:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Required Credentials, Licensure or Certification (i.e. RN, RRT): RN, RT, RD, PT or other health care professional licensure is required.
