DutiesSummary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position is located at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, KY.

A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.

Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Position eligible for situational telework only.


Responsibilities
  • Serve as a Subject matter expert for the development of the psychiatric portion of the Narrative Summary (NARSUM) for a Medical Evaluation Board.
  • Review and explain the Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) process and Narrative Summery (NARSUM) report findings to soldiers.
  • Review behavioral health medical records to determine if a Medical Decision Retention Point (MRDP) has been reached.
  • Assign diagnosis?s to service members and participate in discussions regarding whether conditions meet retention standards according to Department of Defense regulations.
  • Respond to requests for Independent Medical Reviews (IMR), NARSUM appeals, and questions raised by the Physical Evaluation Board (PEB).
  • Perform a full range of duties as a behavioral health practitioner and consultant.

    Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist:

    Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

    In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

    Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

    Specialized experience is defined as: conducting psychiatric evaluations for a medical evaluation board; reviewing and responding to requests for an independent medical review or appeal of a psychiatric diagnoses; reviewing psychiatric medical records; and providing a full range of psychological services such as counseling, assessments, testing, diagnosing or developing behavioral health treatment plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

    Licensure Requirement: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required. Education
