- With faculty/APP leadership (including, but not limited to, Medical Directors and Vice Chair of Clinical Operations), assists with preparation and coordination of budget for each clinical site and is responsible for ongoing management of approved budgets, totaling approximately $40 million. This requires a thorough understanding of departmental clinical operations at all clinical sites and payment mechanisms associated with each.
- Manages the Shift Admin scheduling system for the department, including creation, administration and oversight of all clinical schedules for faculty (90+), locums (100+), advanced practice providers (16) and residents (60+). EM has a complex schedule comprised of coverage for almost 1,000 clinical shifts monthly at three emergency departments: Parkland, Clements, and Children’s, and the Parkland Urgent Care Center.
- Works closely with medical directors for both Parkland, Clements and Children’s hospitals to ensure faculty compliance with UTSW and hospital policies and procedures related to patient care, credentialing and privileging, medical records, and billing/coding. Reviews clinical operations protocols and assists with recommendations for ensuring high degrees of effectiveness for clinical practice. Coordinates monthly clinical operations work group sessions and manages action items forthcoming from those meetings. Will work closely with future Vice-Chair of Clinical Operations as well.
- Monitors clinical metrics for each clinical site, prepares monthly clinical operations analysis reports to be reviewed/acted on by department leadership. Reviews Press Ganey reports and makes recommendations based on results. Also creates ad hoc reports on an as needed basis, as requested by department leadership. Going forward, may be asked to help assess needs and/or develop reporting related to other operational, quality, safety, and engagement initiatives.
- Develops and oversees faculty/provider staffing reporting, requiring full comprehension of all provider supply and demands (out-of-office, faculty effort, FMLA, vacation, etc.), hospital- and department-driven clinical needs, volume fluctuations, patient acuity, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work requires Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Work requires working knowledge of EPIC and how to use data extracted from EPIC.
- Work requires the ability to use Charge Analyzer/Power BI/Health System Performance tools.
- Work requires quick adaptation to new software systems, understanding system interfaces with other tools.
- Work requires good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Education/Social Science, or related field, and five (5) years experience in a related field are required.
