- Assures that the staff deliver optimum quality of care and customer service by establishing and monitoring adherence to standards, policies, practices and procedures. Assures compliance of all CH, local, state, federal and DNV requirements.
- Promotes teamwork, professional and personal growth and quality patient care with peers. Assures adequate staffing through preparation and coordination of staff schedules. Monitors staff time and attendance. Assures compliance with annual mandatory requirements.
- Uses team concept to facilitate development and implementation of departmental goals, policies, procedures, practices and safety standards.
- Evaluates that proper safety precautions and infection control measures are being implemented to ensure safety of patients, staff and others. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates clinical and technical services.
- Plans, assigns, reviews, coordinates and evaluates the daily activities and clinical/tehnical functions; recommends changes in procedures and techniques as required.
- Designs, implements and monitors clinical policies, procedures and forms, as well as provides interpretation of policies. Resolves technical, operational, system and other related issues.
- Serves as a clinical resource for the staff, healthcare providers, community members, patients and families; collaborates with all these parties to achieve optimal patient/program outcomes. Provides direct nursing care, as needed. Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team when issues are identified, to facilitate appropriate interventions.
- Maintains a Quality Assurance program encompassing all departments; performs quality checks; collects, assembles and formats data for use in State, Federal, local and DNV inspections. Implements and monitors action plans to correct quality issues.
- Exercises discretion and judgement in the analysis of departmental services, operations and Performance Improvement (PI) to identify appropriate outcome levels; recommends measures to improve and enhance operations. Participates in CH performance improvement committee.
- Reviews medical records and ensures that documentation is accurate, complete and in compliance with all regulatory agencies. Collects accurate data when performing concurrent and retrospective medical record reviews.
- Monitors all necessary documentation logs for accuracy and completeness based on CH policy and regulatory agency requirements. (ie. eyewash, refrigerator, cidex).
- Assists director and supervisors, as appropriate, in developing annual budgets within CH guidelines and timeframe. Monitors budget for appropriate utilization of resources. Demonstrates proactive vigilance in identifying opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost reduction.
- Participates in continuing education programs and in-services, including programs for enhancing patient care and patient satisfaction, quality assurance programs, performance improvement studies and multidisciplinary committees.
- Schedules department members in a manner that best meets the needs of the patient population in order to provide comprehensive, quality services on a daily basis. Reviews and revises the staffing plan as necessary. Coordinates orientation program for all new staff, serves as a role model and resource for all staff members. Ensures the timely processing of the time and attendance per CH system guidelines.
- Identifies accurately issues that have a negative impact on patient care. Addresses issues immediately, seeks support and assistance from director as needed or otherwise reports these issues to Director in a timely fashion. Identifies accurately and advises appropriate manager/director when physician or patient issues require legal, ethical or administrative interventions.
- Performs other duties as assigned; willingness to adapt to changing department demands.
Requirements:
- BSN required, MSN preferred.
- Three years related experience in Obstetrical setting with minimum of one year in ambulatory services.
- Intermediate computer skills. Extensive familiarity with use of internet as a clinical and administrative resources.
- Excellent customer service, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with policy development and implementing evidence-based practice.
