Job Summary:
The Clinical Liaison acts as a liaison between internal and external referral sources, and internal operations. The position is responsible for establishing relationships with physicians, case managers, and other referral sources. The Clinical Liaison will ensure appropriate patient placement through clinical assessments and screening in conjunction with the Hospital Medical Director. The Clinical Liaison supports the patient and family through the referral process, communicating effectively, and providing excellent customer service in a compassionate manner. The Clinical Liaison is the face of the organization in the community and creates opportunities to promote the Hospital’s branding and positive reputation in the form of promotional events, in-services, communications, and other educational opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Previous inpatient rehab experience in a hospital setting is strongly preferred
- Customer Relations within a Sales and Marketing arena preferred
- College degree and license in healthcare-related field (RN, LVN, LSW, RRT, PTA, PT, OTA or OT) preferred.
- Clinical experience required with demonstrated skills in clinical assessment and marketing.
- Requires a professional level of knowledge in physician relations and interfacing with case managers & insurance companies.
- Extensive knowledge of local provider and medical communities. Ability to be available for occasional evenings for marketing events, weekend coverage, and routine day travel.
- Good communication skills. Must maintain valid driver’s license.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct patient clinical assessments to identify and determine appropriateness for potential admission
- Develops and implements marketing plans with goals designed to achieve budgeted admits. Achieves quarterly goals.
- Tracks physician non-monetary items for compliance and submits to CFO.
- Adheres to all Stark Laws and Anti-Kickback statues.
- Establishes and cultivates professional relationships with referral sources in order to generate repeat referral opportunities.
- Attends conferences and professional seminars as requested in order to promote the facility.
- Provides timely and detailed input to marketing budget.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the hospital and marketplace in order to stay abreast of healthcare changes and/or trends.
- Performs competitive analysis of competitor facilities on periodic basis.
- Conducts presentations and tours of the facility to potential referral sources and families.
- Effectively, timely and accurately reports and/or communicates activities, progress, issues and/or concerns to Leadership and Business Development Leadership.
- Works with Administration on an ongoing basis regarding concerns and issues which impact census building in the facility, responds to requests, participates in field ride along and trainings, etc.
- Looks for need and opportunity for the facility to package programs with clinical, nursing and medical directors to market specific diagnosis based services.
- Develops strategic annual and 90 day sales plans based upon budgeted census needs, payor mix and patient mix.
- Schedules, coordinates and promotes educational/CEU activities to referral sources to support ongoing professional development.
- Convert referrals into admissions in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations that pertain to admissions and marketing.
- Ability to communicate in English via phone, in writing, and verbally in conversation with different levels of staff, patient families, and any outside customers.
- Interacts with patients, family members, staff, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions/circumstances.
- Exercises Universal precautions in this hospital environment to protect against the possible exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions.
Continuing Education:
- Attends in service and educational programs.
- Maintains licensure requirements
