Job Description
Position Overview:
The Client Services Supervisor provides supervisory support to the client services staff for the Clinical Laboratory. Effectively manages human resources by maintaining comprehensive client services policies, processes and procedures that promote optimal performance by Client Services staff. Coordinates client services activities within the Clinical Laboratory’s Quality Management Program to ensure the delivery of high quality, cost effective laboratory services for inpatient and hospital outpatient operations. Designs, monitors, assess and improve the pre- and post-analytical processes to maintain a smooth and uninterrupted work flow. Performs charge capture and billing-related activities to ensure compliant, accurate and complete billing for laboratory services. Functions as a Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist or Sr Laboratory Assistant when necessary to maintain optimal service levels.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least one year of full-time college (or equivalent credits) with science courses in medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, or related course work in the medical field or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • A Baccalaureate degree is desirable.

Certification:
  • A minimum of a California State Phlebotomy Technician I certification is required. A California State Phlebotomy Technician II certification is preferred.

Experience:
  • Prior laboratory client services experience is required.
  • Prior supervisory experience, quality/assessment/improvement, technical writing and teaching is preferred.

Knowledge:
  • Seasoned technical knowledge in client service laboratory functions is required.
  • Knowledge of computerized laboratory and hospital information systems is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements is desirable.


Special Skills/Equipment:
  • Must have proven effective written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to manage personnel in a variety of situations.
  • Must also have demonstrated ability in prioritizing and managing diverse activities in a changing environment.
