Job Opening Summary

The CPCA functions as an assistant to the registered nurse by performing routine procedures under his or her supervision. The CPCA provides general clerical support to customers of a patient care unit by functioning as a receptionist, transcriber, monitor of medical records, and information/communication specialist.

Job Opening Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or certification of completion of a semester-long PCA program with high school diploma or equivalent. Two years of college preferred. Understanding of medical terminology preferred.

OR

  • Nursing student currently enrolled in an approved program for preparation of professional nurses - upon successful completion of the didactic and clinical portion of a fundamentals in nursing course (as evidenced by a grade of "C" or better).

OR

  • Nursing student currently enrolled in an approved program for preparation of Licensed Practical Nurses - upon successful completion of the didactic and clinical portion of nursing fundamental course work (as evidenced by a grade of "C" or better).

OR

  • One year experience as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) or equivalent position.

  • Demonstrated continuous work experience required.
  • Clerical experience preferred.
  • Work experience in positions requiring extensive phone contact, public contact or public service preferred.


Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or certification of completion of a semester-long PCA program.
