JOB LOCATION: Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital – Waimea, Kaua’i, HI
FUNCTION AND LOCATION: The Clerk IV services the hospitals and all outpatient clinics for the Kaua’i Region. The Kaua’i Region consists of Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital, Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital, and Kaua’i Region Clinics. Kaua’i Region includes Clinic at Poipu, Clinic at Kalaheo, Specialty Clinic at Kalaheo, Clinic at Port Allen, Clinic at Waimea, and the Specialty Clinic at Kapa’a. Kaua’i Region, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, is a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i.
The primary function of this position is to perform complex clerical work to support the Community Vaccination Clinic and supervisory personnel of the Nursing Department, Nursing Supervisory, and Medical support staff and provide a variety of fiscal record keeping and clerical services, and support front end coverage as needed. The position may frequently require intense work activity and the ability to handle many clerical processes at one time while prioritizing functions. Position must interface with administration, providers, staff, public and private agencies and the community. This position must have the ability to use tact and diplomacy in ensuring that department standards are maintained. High level of confidentiality required.
Position is subject to shifts. Available to work on weekends, extended hours, and float to any clinic site, including travel clinics, and other facilities within Kaua’i Region, based on operational needs to provide staffing support services as needed. Performs other related duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor or designee within the required timeframe.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTSTo qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.
Certifications: None required.
Licensures: None required.
General Clerical Experience: Two (2) years of work experience which involved performance of a variety of clerical tasks which demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, common office appliances and equipment; and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, carry out procedures in clerical work systems, speak and write simply and directly, compare words and numbers quickly and accurately, operate various kinds of office equipment.
Must demonstrate possession of Supervisory aptitude.
Desirable Qualifications: Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner; ability to communicate and work effectively with distraught or agitated individuals.
