Job Description

Scope of Responsibility: The Civil Foreman is the leader of a crew performing general construction activities, with an emphasis on using hand tools, operating heavy machinery, having the ability to understand and perform the layout of framing, have strong knowledge of concrete carpentry, conduct installation of various types of concrete building foundations and slabs, installation of conduit and trenching, and installation of aggregate roads and compounds. The Civil Foreman demonstrates ability to perform all essential job duties and is responsible for training and directing Crew Members on the performance of such skills. The Civil Foreman communicates daily with respective project manager regarding project progression and crew performance. This individual shall at all times uphold the foundational goals of SABRE, “Client Service, Quality, and Safety” to enhance the integrity for which the organization has become known.

Essential Job Duties:

    • Complete all necessary safety training provided by SABRE
    • Complete all necessary technical training provided by SABRE
    • At all times, promote and maintain safe work practices as outlined in the SABRE Safety Manual, as well as other safety and quality directives issued by Management
    • Ability to perform, train, direct, and oversee civil construction activities
    • Maintain care of SABRE equipment
    • Demonstration of organizational skills in all tasks
    • Ability to utilize intermediate computer skills
    • Communication and coordination of all job related activities with SABRE Management/Crew Members
    • Communication between SABRE Management, clients, and other onsite personnel

Physical Requirements:

    • Professional presentation by speech and in appearance
    • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing
    • Ability to travel extended periods of time
    • Ability to communicate fluently with all SABRE staff, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers
    • Ability to operate machinery such as backhoes, mini excavators, and skid steers
    • Ability to read blueprints
    • Ability to communicate fluently with Project Manager and other SABRE employees
    • Practice safe working procedures in compliance with OSHA regulations
    • Ability to learn from various instruction methods, as well as self-study
    • Ability to read and understand general job related documents
    • Previous construction and/or construction industry experience preferred
    • Bending, squatting and stooping greater than 50% daily
    • Lifting up to 80 lbs. as needed
    • Able to stand for long periods greater than 60% daily

Position Requirements:

  • Direct crew by ensuring all work meets SABRE and customer standards, both in scheduling and job specifications
  • Direct crew in maximizing time spent on critical job functions to increase overall job profitability
  • Operate hand and power tools with ease
  • Class A CDL extremely desired
  • Operate trucks, trailers, and other equipment with ease
  • Lay out cell tower sites, electrical, and telecommunications infrastructure
  • Install and wire telecommunications equipment, installing breakers, making terminations
  • Trenching, laying fiber and conduit
  • Pour concrete pads, piers, pylons, block wall foundations, excavations, layout, forming, rebar placing and finishing
  • Set and install pre-fabricated equipment buildings
  • Install light industrial steel, i.e. h-frames, light posts
