The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Christmas Volunteer Coordinator for the Fort Myers Area Command, located in Fort Myers, Florida.
Job SummaryRecruits, trains, coordinates, and monitors the work of employees and/or volunteers ensuring ample staff to meet Christmas program needs; coordinates The Salvation Army Angel Tree program; prepares records and reports for Christmas programs.
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of The Salvation Army social service programs. Knowledge of volunteer recruitment methods and practices. Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision. Ability to prepare accurate and complete records and reports. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers. Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of volunteers
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations or a related field and one year experience recruiting people to perform work on a volunteer basis preferred or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and CertificationsValid State Driver’s License Approved Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Report required. Approved background check report required.
Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsAbility to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
