Chief Operating Officer

Jewish Family Service (JFS) is hiring a Chief Operating Officer (COO) who possesses initiative and independent judgment. This position is an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team and will work closely with the CEO. Having great people skills, business acumen, creativity and is self-driven are key attributes. Competency in strategic planning activities, familiarity with IT/Business infrastructure and good knowledge of data analysis and performance and operations metrics is important.

Position Summary: This high-level strategic leadership position manages IT, administration, facilities, risk management, compliance, and security. The duties and responsibilities require a high degree of creativity, initiative, and independent judgment and action. The COO will embrace and cultivate the mission and values of the Agency.

Qualifications

* Education : Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management or related field, preferred.

* Experience: 10+ plus years senior level management experience including strategic planning, budgeting and financial planning and analysis, compliance, managing day-to-day operations and technology, data, and evaluation. Knowledge of human service field, helpful.

* Other:

  • *Strategic vision and ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends and incorporate them into the Agency’s strategic plan and business strategies.
  • *Broad experience with full range of business functions and systems, including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, finance, information systems.
  • Understand latest technology necessary to create, promote, and enhance services and work product in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Exceptional capacity for managing and leading people; a team builder with ability to connect staff on an individual and group basis; capacity to enforce accountability, develop and empower individuals.
  • Results-proven track record of attaining goals with a bottom-line orientation; ability to make sound decisions through a combination of collaboration, critical-thinking skills, analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment. High level of business acumen, including financial management; ability to balance delivery of programs against realities of a budget; and effective problem-solving project management skills and creative resourcefulness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a leadership presence with direct reports to develop and implement strategies, procedures, and business plans necessary to enhance Agency growth.
  • Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to determine current and longer-term systems and business performance requirements to achieve strategic objectives. Coordinate the annual operations plan and budget.
  • Participate in Board of Directors, Board Committees and Community Partnership meetings.
  • Serve as the HIPAA Security Officer. Oversee Compliance, Risk Management and Security.
  • Coach and develop the IT team to ensure delivery against key business metrics. Suggest methods to improve quality, efficiency, productivity and reduce cost.
  • Analyze the current technology infrastructure and assess the information and technology and financial systems which support the growth of specific programs.
  • In conjunction with Chief Development Officer, assess development and implementation of systems for reporting measurement and supporting revenue generation information.
  • Develop and manage capital planning and expenditures to acquire, upgrade, and maintain physical assets such as property, buildings, technology, and equipment.
  • Oversee receptionist, office manager, and office facilities.

Conditions of Employment:

This is a full-time, exempt position in our Denver, CO office

Compensation: $135,000 - $150,000 annually
