The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies (CCS) at San José State University invites highly qualified and motivated applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments.

CCS invites applications from candidates who can demonstrate excellence in teaching and working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.

Department Summary

CCS offers an undergraduate minor and major, as well as a graduate degree. CCS faculty are trained in various disciplines with distinct community and research interests that contribute to a vibrant community of activist scholars.

CCS provides students with an interdisciplinary understanding of the perspectives and experiences of Chicana/o and Latina/o populations. A CCS degree or minor provides students with the critical skills and analysis to contribute to a complex society.

CCS sponsors extensive activities that are open to the entire campus community; this academic year the department faculty and staff hosted
weekly Platicas hosted by faculty and alumni as a way to stay connected throughout the pandemic. We are also celebrating our 50th Anniversary with numerous events including film screenings, alumni panels, and collaborations with other Ethnic Studies Departments on campus.

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May.
