Job SummaryThe Charge Nurse is responsible for supervising staff and the operation and overall flow of the unit on his/her designated shift, and is a role model for all staff. He/she is responsible for coordinating unit schedules and staff assignments and participating in the performance appraisal process. The Charge Nurse is responsible for ensuring staff meet the approved Standards of Practice, for managing assigned personnel and unit activities and for promoting cooperative working relationships with physicians and other health care providers. Provides patient care as needed. The Clinical Care Coordinator is responsible for the internal management of the nursing unit functions and staff, along with the integration of department services into the primary functions of the organization related to patient care and services. The Nursing Clinical Manager assumes administrative responsibility for nursing services on assigned unit in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Nursing Department, the Standards of JCAHO, the Statutes of the State of California, and hospital policies, goals, and objectives. Completes Utilization Review of Behavioral Health Services.
Job RequirementsMinimum Education Requirement:
BSN preferred. Attends at least one leadership seminar each year.
Minimum Experience Requirement:
Three years psychiatric nursing experience is required. Management of Assaultive Behavior is required. Excellent customer service skills required.
Minimum License Requirement:
Current RN license in the State of California.
Maintains BLS certification.
AB 508 certification required upon hire. Certification is renewed annually (cert. expires end of the month in which training takes place). RNC preferred.
LPS designation preferred.
