Job Description

Qualified external applicants with at least six months of direct experience eligible for up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus! The bonus will be taxed per IRS regulations. Additional relocation bonus may apply based on geographical location. Must be hired into a full-time or part-time position; PRN positions are not eligible. Some exclusions may apply.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours
Call is required for every part time and full time position. Each team member covers 6 call shifts every 6 weeks. These are self-scheduled weekdays depending on work shift, but include: 3:30p-8p, 3:30p-11p, 5:30p-11p, 11p-7a, and weekends 7a-7p and 7p-7a. The response time for call is 30 minutes. We also require 2 holiday coverage shifts each year (call or work).

The Surgical Tech works under the supervision of the surgeon and RN. Assists surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical cases and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed. Assists in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms.

  • Basic Computer skills required.
  • One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
  • Experience in a specialty field preferred.
  • HS Diploma/GED required
  • Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program required
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required
  • Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. * A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech required
  • Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery (CST) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required

The Surgery department at St. Francis Medical Center unit has ten operating suites and we are expanding to 16 suites by April 2020. Daily, we meet the challenges of caring for a multitude of disease processes needing surgical intervention. We work with patients from toddlers to geriatrics and our specialties
include: general, gynecology, robotics, oral surgery, dental, orthopedics, ENT, urology, podiatry, spine, breast and ophthalmology patients. An OR nurse takes care of one patient at a time and works with a surgical tech, surgeon and anesthesiologist throughout the day. Teamwork is essential and the nurse is
