Requirements CPhT: 1) Certified Registered Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). 2) Two to three years’ experience preferred 3) BLS Pharmacy Tech in Training: 1.) Texas State Board Registered Pharmacy Technician In Training 2.) Complete the certification exam within 1 year of hire 3.) 2-3 years’ experience preferred 4.) BLS required Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire. New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the Life Support Certification (BLS) required for the job. Physical Requirements: Repetitive use of hands and fingers. May require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, and IV solutions and stooping or kneeling (ex. To pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers). Walking or standing for long periods of time (4-12 hours) is often necessary. Must be able to physically operate the equipment used for the job. Summary CPhT: Registered Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists in preparing, distributing, and storing medications, maintaining drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Registered Pharmacy Technicians work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods. Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities and solve problems. Ability to respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of discharged patients and the general population. Pharmacy Tech In Training: Registered Pharmacy Technicians in Training assist pharmacists in preparing, distributing, and storing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records. Registered Pharmacy Technicians in Training work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Universal precautions must be observed, and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure.
