Providence is calling a Certified Nursing Assistant 2 Health Unit Coordinator - Medical Surgical (0.9 FTE, Days) to Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital in Hood River, OR
We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant 2 Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) - Medical Surgical that will be the key person within the nursing unit who provides overall administrative and technical assistance and support in the operation of the assigned nursing unit; Collaborates with other staff and leaders in the development, oversight and operation of the unit. This position is the hub of all communication to and from the nursing unit and greatly impacts the 'tone' of the unit/shift.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
CLERICAL:
- Perform all clerical duties in support of the nursing unit
- Initiate and prioritize the accurate processing and transcription of provider orders
- Assemble and maintain patient charts, current forms, results/reports
- Assess, order, maintain unit supplies and equipment within defined unit budget
COMMUNICATION:
- Serve as the hub of all communication for the unit
- Display professional interpersonal skills and presence when communicating with patients, public and staff
- As the front-line customer service representative, uphold and exhibit the core values in all communications
COORDINATION:
- In conjunction with the Charge Nurse, is accountable for the efficient coordination of unit activities
- Key elements include patient placement, scheduling, coordination with other departments for patient care services and the effective dissemination and prioritization of information
PATIENT CARE:
- Assist with basic patient care for patients and specific delegated duties that support the delivery of quality patient care, under the supervision of an RN
- Competent to interact and gather data from patients of many ages, including neonatal, adolescent and adult
- Competent to observe and report to RN a patient's self-report or behavior
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
- High School Diploma -OR- GED
- Coursework/Training:
- Training in a recognized health care program -OR- one (1) year experience performing secretarial duties in healthcare
- Medical terminology course -OR- equivalent knowledge
- Completion of Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) recognized Acute Care CNA 2 course -OR- Grandfathered to CNA 2 per OSBN requirements
- Active and unencumbered license in the state of Oregon as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Experience with a variety of software applications
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
- Coursework/Training:
- One (1) year of post-high school education
- Satisfactory completion of Health Unit Coordinator course -OR- equivalent educational experience
- National Certification Health Unit Coordinator
- Experience as a preceptor/role model
- One (1) year experience as a CNA 2
