Job Description
The Health Center at the College of Saint Benedict invites applicants for Certified Medical Assistant. This is a temporary, provisional variable schedule position with a maximum of 17 weeks of employment. This staff member will be assigned to work hours on a variable schedule during the spring 2021 semester. This position is designed to provide direct patient care to CSB students.
The CSB Health Center is the located in Lottie Hall and serves as the home of the CSB office of CSB/SJU Counseling and Health Promotion as well as CSB Health Services (Lower Level Lottie Hall). Counseling, Health Promotion and CSB Health Services collaboratively support a healthy campus culture and work toward empowering students of every background to engage in lifelong healthy decision making, personal growth, and academic success within an environment that is secure, welcoming, respectful, and compassionate, guided by the Catholic Benedictine value of holistic wellbeing. The mission of CSB Health Services is to provide quality, cost effective primary and preventative health care to meet CSB students personal and community needs. The CSB Health Center includes: two Administrative Professionals, two Nurse Practitioners, three Registered Nurses, three Certified Medical Assistants, one Registered Dietitian, four Counseling staff members, two Health Promotion professional staff members and their peer health promotion student employees.

Responsibilities: Clinical:
- Rooms patients according to rooming standards.
- Assists providers with exams and minor office procedures.
- Maintains and stocks patient care areas, including exam rooms, lab, and multi-purpose room.
- Performs phlebotomy, EKG’s, and CLIA waived lab tests
- Assists with testing for COVID-19 in temporary testing locations on both campuses.
- Assists with delivery of vaccines during on campus mass vaccine clinics.
- Prepares and administers medications with the provider’s authorization.
- Disposes biohazard waste according to OSHA standards.
- Maintains accurate documentation of care.
- Informs patients of lab results and follow up as requested by providers.
- Participates in screening and preventative health programs as assigned.
- Insures confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
- Recognizes and responds to emergencies.
- Complies with quality assurance practices.
- Identifies IT challenges, participates in problem solving, and the implementation of new/current functionality.
- Assists with contact tracing of communicable diseases as directed by COVID-19 Coordinator and N.P./Assistant Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned N.P. / Assistant Director.
Qualifications: Required Qualifications:
Education, Certifications & Professional Experience:
- Verification of the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or L.P.N. licensure by the Minnesota Board of Nursing
- CPR certification
- Three or more years of current experience in a clinic or ambulatory primary care center.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population and seek professional development opportunities to grow in cultural competency.
- Information technology competence to utilize Microsoft office software and Electronic Health Record.
- Proficient in phlebotomy and laboratory testing under CLIA waived certification.
- Effective communication and interpersonal relations skills to interact professionally with internal and external clientele.
- Ability to exercise appropriate discretion and confidentiality with patient information.
