Job Description
This is a FT role that will work every Saturday/Sunday and one other day during the week.
UNIT SUMMARY: Northwest Hospital's main operating room (Main OR) provides innovative surgical services on both inpatient and outpatients. The main surgical suite consists of a new exquisite pre- and post-operative area, five operating rooms, one Cysto suite and a new endoscopy suite. The main operating room cares for approximately 480 surgical patients a month. Patients of surgical services may require care following general or orthopedic, neurologic, urologic, gynecologic, thoracic, vascular, podiatric, cosmetic procedures. Surgical service employees provide excellent care to their patients and follow Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nursing Practice (ASPAN) standards of care. Surgical staff must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms.
JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the surgical team, provides technical assistance to the surgeon/physician during surgical intervention under the supervision of the RN within the Surgical Services department. When not directly assisting the physician in a procedure, may participate in the rendering of patient care under the direction of the Surgical Assistant Coordinator or Registered Nurse.
REQUIREMENTS: Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field. Passage of the certifying examination administered by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist is preferred ans is required to be completed within 12 months. 1-3 years of experience. Surgical Technologist Certification, Certificate of completion of an accredited course, American Heart Association CPR Certification.
