Central Service Tech - Central Supply - Full Time (1.0) - Eve

Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Senior Technician or Department Manager of Sterile Processing, is knowledgeable in the operations of Sterile Processing and will be proficient with all job duties assigned to this position.

Some Duties and Responsiblities Include:

• Carries out Standard Precautions at all times. Knows where to locate all Personal Protective Equipment. Adheres to infection control practices to prevent the spread of infection.
• Performs all phases of decontamination: instruments, carts and equipment (commodes, Imeds, Isolation Carts, wheelchairs, stretchers, etc.)
• Is knowledgeable in the operation and functions of the washer-decontaminator, cart wash and the steam gun.
• Performs all phases of inspecting and assembling instruments for the OR, CTOR, Cath lab, EP lab, X-ray, ER, Sleep lab and all the off-sites.
• Is knowledgeable in the operations and functions of all the sterilizers in the department (STEAM, ETO, and STERRAD).
• Knows and adheres to the proper wrapping, labeling, and logging on the appropriate log sheets.
• Is aware of the safety measures needed to be taken with the use of ETO. Proper handling of gas cartridges, interpretation of printout sheets to assure correct sterilization and aeration times.

Requirements:

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED

• Previous CS Tech experience preferred; extensive on-the-job training required.

• CS Tech certification preferred.
