CDL DRIVER With Manual Transmission Exp.

We will offer paid training for those who have their CDLs with no restrictions.

CDL drivers ensure the safe and timely delivery of concrete to the customer at the proper slump and to the proper job sites and returns to the assigned batch plant in a timely manner for additional loads. CDL drivers are responsible for periodic maintenance of their assigned vehicles, including maintaining proper fluid levels and tire pressure as well as making minor repairs, such as changing light bulbs, as needed. CDL drivers are also responsible for maintaining the professional appearance of the truck.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Must be punctual when reporting to plant

· Ensures the safe and timely delivery of concrete to the customer at the proper slump and to the proper job site. Returns to the assigned batch plant in a timely manner for additional loads.

· Delivers concrete as customer specifies, after determining customer’s requests are safe and possible. Communicates truck/job status to dispatch. Maintains good public relations with customer.

· Maintains appearance of truck, proper air pressure in tires, proper fluid levels, oil, hydraulic, coolant and fuel. Performs minor repairs to truck as needed, such as changing light bulbs

· ?Maintains load in transit to job. Adds fiber reinforcement and/or ice to load as directed. Inspects load during wash down, reports any problems. Completes washout procedures both during and at end-of-day; cleans truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck; may spray surfaces of truck with protective compound to prevent adhering of concrete.

· Performs pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure safe operation of truck and mixer.

· Ensures that safety, compliance, environmental and DOT requirements are followed at all times.

· Drives Ready Mix truck, checking loads, washing mixer top to bottom, delivering concrete to various job sites, loading and dumping truck.

· Completes all paperwork that may be necessary; assist with plant work as required by plant management.

· Attends safety meetings

· Participates in the training programs for new mixer-truck drivers

· Other duties as required

Qualifications/Competencies:

· Must possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and have experience driving a manual transmission

· High school diploma or equivalent from technical school preferred

· 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

· Ability to read, write and speak English.

· Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.

· Excellent driving skills.

· Retain a DOT physical card.

· Must pass DOT drug screen

· Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner

· Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations, respond to customer needs and respond to requests for service and assistance.

· Exhibit sound and accurate judgment

· Observe safety and security procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, use equipment properly

· Punctual and consistently arrives at work on time

· Ability to follow instructions from management and dispatcher

Physical Demands:

· Regularly required to stand and sit

· Frequent use of hands to handle and reach

· Frequently required to reach with arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb and balance

· Frequently required to lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds

· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus
