Cashiers provide quality customer services, including efficient register operation and cash control.
They are knowledgeable about procedures, sale prices; as well as asset protection regarding price switching, counterfeit bills and suspicious credit card payments. They promote goodwill between the company and its customers; often leaving a lasting impression that can bring customers back again or disappoint them and harm our business.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Engages positively with customers; including a greeting with a smile and a thank you as the interaction ends.
2. They accept and protect payments received accurately
3. Cashiers accurately enter sales into the registers; by correct department and price.
4. They ensure carts passing through the lane are checked for merchandise and record the merchandise to the register.
5. Cashier’s check cash for counterfeit and irregularities; appropriately calling for supervision to resolve the issues(s).
6. They ensure the last customer receives all their merchandise before starting the next transaction.
7. To promote customer confidence and aid in accuracy cashiers call out the price of merchandise as they enter it into the register.
8. Cashiers are familiar with sale promotion prices, promotional procedures (including 5 Star and electronic coupons) so that correct prices are charged to customers.
9. Cashiers call for price checks for un-ticketed merchandise or suspiciously priced merchandise.
10. Cashiers comply with PAC policy.
11. They call for assistance when they observe long lines, disruptive customers and other out of ordinary incidents.
12. Cashiers remain calm and polite in difficult situations.
13. They maintain a clean, organized work space.
14. Cashiers process go back merchandise calling for assistance to reduce clutter, as well as calling for hangar and ink tag pickup as necessary.
15. Cashiers call and or lead customers to their register as they open or observe an opportunity to move a customer to a shorter line.
16 Cashiers report suspicious circumstance such as a customer/ employee insisting they use the same cashier for all their transactions.
17. Cashiers call for pickups to reduce risk according to policy.
18. Cashier efficiently count their funds and are at their workstation as scheduled.
19. Cashiers likewise count and record ending funds without participating in interruptions.
20. Cashiers comply with wage and hour, rest period, ADA and No Harassment policies.
21. Cashiers recognize the importance of their job function and attend work regularly and on time. They use the HRO system for scheduling requests.
22. Cashiers work as a team with staff.
23. Works using safe practices; including avoiding twisting and bending, lifting heaving items with one hand, bending over the counter.
Stretching according to instructions issued at hire should be routinely done at start of and during work shift.
24. Makes decisions they are allowed to make using training, experience and policy.
