About the St. Josephine Bakhita Program
The St. Josephine Bakhita Program is a therapeutic home for pregnant and parenting women between the ages of 21 and 35 and their children. The women in the program have substance abuse and mental health needs, are in jeopardy of losing custody of their children, and have been referred to the Mother’s Recovery Program by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. This program provides a safe and secure home, mental health services, substance abuse treatment and counseling, parenting classes, vocational training, life skills education and academic services to prepare the women for a successful transition back into their communities as productive adults and to help them develop healthy relationships with their children.
